Taiwan-based flexible PCB (FPCB) maker Flexium Interconnect expects its fourth-quarter revenues to remain at the level of the third quarter while rivals Career Technology and Sunflex Tech are more conservative about their fourth-quarter prospects due to mixed sales results in the smartphone market.
Flexium had record consolidated revenues of NT$361 million (US$11 million) in September, up 20.3% on month and up 14.67% on year, thanks to increased orders from handset and smartphone customers. Its consolidated revenues for the third quarter totaled NT$937 million, an increase of 24.2% compared to the second.
Flexium indicated demand in fourth-quarter 2009 will be better than the same period in previous years, so its fourth-quarter revenues are likely to hold level this year.
Career saw its September revenues drop 11.3% on month to NT$747 million, and Sunflex's revenues in that month declined 12.39% to NT$83.5 million due to inventory adjustments by handset customers.
Career's third-quarter consolidated revenues were NT$2.39 billion, up 22.7% sequentially, and Sunflex's revenues in that quarter reached NT$277 million, up 42.7%. Both companies expect their revenues in the fourth quarter to be affected by the seasonality.
